Wow, my training really paid off and the quality of the coaching and plan you’ve provided me paid off, including the continued prodding on nutrition. 🙂 I know that anything can happen on race day and I’ve been the person in bad shape on the run as recently as June. But, yesterday, I felt strong throughout the race and, despite the conditions, nothing that prevented me from racing as planned.
What I particularly valued about the training (other than, obviously, the fact that I’m in shape to do this race), was that I had the tools I needed to handle what came at me without wondering if I was doing the right thing. My brain was not programmed on racing “full speed” no matter the distance like I was in the past. I needed to have automatic responses to things that happened.
